The IMMFP12 Multi-Function Processor Module (MFP) is a core component of the INFI 90® OPEN control module line. This versatile multiple loop analog, sequential, batch, and advanced controller delivers powerful solutions for complex process control challenges. It efficiently handles data acquisition and information processing while providing true peer-to-peer communications. The comprehensive function code library supports even the most sophisticated control strategies. The INFI 90 OPEN system utilizes various analog and digital I/O modules for process communication and control, with the MFP module capable of communicating with up to 64 modules in any combination.
Operating Modes
The MFP module operates in three distinct modes: execute, configure, and error. In execute mode, the module runs control algorithms while continuously performing self-diagnostic error checks. When an error is detected, front-panel LEDs display corresponding error codes for troubleshooting. In configure mode, users can edit existing control algorithms or create new ones, during which time the MFP does not execute control logic. If an error occurs during execute mode, the module automatically transitions to error mode.
Redundant Processing Capability
A one-megabaud CPU-to-CPU communication link enables the MFP module to work with redundant processors. This connection allows a backup MFP to maintain hot standby status while the primary module executes control algorithms. If the primary MFP goes offline for any reason, control transfers seamlessly to the backup module in a smooth, bumpless switchover.
